independent_dollmaker: (Oh don't mind me)
[Congratulations, everyone! You managed to get through the first cycle with no clues and only six people dying. Hiroshi was this round's offering, and nobody knew what was going on.

It will be a moment while we turn back the clock to prepare for the next round. In the meantime, please enjoy these snacks and age-appropriate beverages, and discuss the first cycle.]

Well, I got to go on a date with Harime-san, so it wasn't all bad.
independent_dollmaker: (Exhausted or miserable)
Subject: Souji Seta (Age 18)
Died from severe blunt force trauma. Multiple wounds were found, inflicted by some unknown heavy object. The body was found strung up by the feet, over the front door of the Yamane house. Had been dead for at least 48 hours at time of discovery.

Subjects: Minako Aino (Age 15), Mr. and Mrs. Yamane (Ages 44 and 42)
Died from repeated stab wounds. The murder weapon has not yet been identified. All three bodies were found inside the Yamane house, after an investigation triggered by the discovery of Souji Seta.

The victims have been dead for at least 24 hours when they were found. There were signs of a struggle.

Subject: Nui Harime (Age 16)
Died from severe blunt trauma, caused by a single blow to the head with a large tree branch (Exhibit C). She was found outside her home, showing signs of having fought back against her attacker.

Subject: Hiroshi Yamane (Age 15)
Died from stab wounds to the neck and body, inflicted by a pair of fabric scissors (Exhibit E). His body was found outside the Harime household, near the body of Nui Harime.

According to several character testimonies, Hiroshi Yamane had been acting erratically during the week prior to the incident. He is the primary suspect in all five of the above murders.

Subject: Alice Margatroid (Age 16)
Suffered a concussion from a blow to the head, currently in treatment. Alice Margatroid confessed to killing Hiroshi Yamane, shortly after he killed Nui Harime. Taking into account extensive circumstantial evidence, we believe the killing to have been in self-defense.

Final note:
Upon searching the Yamane home, signs were discovered that it had been ransacked before the police arrived. A notebook belonging to Hiroshi Yamane was found, containing a number of repetitions of the phrases "Shigetsuna isn't real", "The ninth is dead", and "Who sent the letter?". However, no letter was found.

Investigation is ongoing.
independent_dollmaker: (Well this is a conundrum)
[Well, that happened.

As promised, Alice took Nui out tonight - specifically, to a nice restaurant in the next town over. If nothing else, it was nice to get out of Izamizuki for a while. She could almost forget about the increasingly frightening occurrences of the past week.

Unfortunately, she was pretty much too nervous around Nui to get any sort of functional conversation in edgewise. Way too much awkward stammering, uncomfortable silences, and failing to think of anything interesting to say to do anything as complicated as acting like herself.

Regardless, the night is coming to an end now. The path back to Nui's home is lit warmly by the setting sun, village on one side, woods on the other. Alice walks in silence for a while before speaking up suddenly.]

L-Listen, I'm sorry I was such a mess tonight. It's just, I've never been on any sort of date before, and...
independent_dollmaker: (Uhhh)
[Alice is first again. She has a copy of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, but she's read the same page five times without taking any of it in.]

[Souji is still missing. Today, Hiroshi and Minako are absent, too. No word on why. This group is getting smaller and smaller. Alice can feel the weight of this strange town bearing down on her. Even if just for a little while, she has to get out of here...]
all_onis_are_true: (we might be in trouble here)
[The call came to Alice later that evening. It's Hiroshi, and he sounds... unnerved.]

...I know what you did. I know you got to them all. I don't know how, and I don't know why, but...

Stay away from me. I am entirely ready to defend myself if need be.

[And then he hangs up. That's... unnerving.]
independent_dollmaker: (Not now too busy)
[It's Wednesday, now. Souji didn't come to school yesterday. He was gone today, too. It's official now: He's been reported missing.

The atmosphere over the usual Supernatural Investigation Club meeting is heavier than usual. The silence from the empty seat Souji usuall sits in seems awfully loud.

After one stretch of silence, Alice speaks up.]

...I don't exactly believe it, but I at least want to say it once.

What if Seta-san's disappearance has something to do with what we did last weekend?

[Often, Maya liked to hang out with her friends after school, and even after club was over. There was always something the spirit medium in training liked to chat about, and today was far from different.

Although, it still was, in a way. The absence of fellow senior, Souji Seta had not gone unnoticed in Maya's eyes. But, she wasn't the kind to worry just yet. It was likely nothing anyways.

Th person she was hanging out with today was Alice! Yaaay. Maya always thought that the new kid on the block needed some more friendly faces around pretty often. Good thing that Maya the Magnificent was on the job!
]

[Lazily, she reclined on one of her couches. Contrary to what some of her friends might have thought, Maya's house was pretty darn clean for the kind of person that Maya was. Praise Mia for that, literally.

There was a spark in Maya's eyes as she raised the question she'd been raising all day.
]

So, did your wish come true, yet?
all_onis_are_true: (deep in research)
[Another day, another bout of messing around. Hiroshi can't shake the feeling that everybody seemed more on edge than usual today, though. Must be more spooked from that silly ceremony than they wanted to let on. How foolish. They were all still alive, right?

Well, okay, Maria could believe what she wants. She's young. She'll learn.

The mail is sitting at the foot of the door when he gets back to his house. His parents are out for now; Father, no doubt, is still working at the lab, and Mother must be out shopping. Well, never mind. He sorts through the mail, and stops.

There's an envelope in here, marked to him. No return address, though. He frowns. Well, he IS expecting a letter one way or another from that school in the city, but he can't imagine they'd send him something without any sort of letterhead. He puts the other mail on the table and opens up the envelope.

The only thing inside was the following letter:]

UNBELIEVER
THE NINTH IS DEAD
YOU WILL DIE SOON TOO
SHIGETSUNA-SAMA DEMANDS IT

[He furrows his brow. The Ninth? Who's the Ninth? There were only eight! Where'd this note come from? Who could have...

Shaken, he tears it up into several pieces, his breathing shallow and tight. Whoever from the club sent that, it's not funny. He needs a walk to clear his head.

Which is, of course, where you might run into him. He seems on edge, either way.]

[Well, the ritual was completed, and everyone went home. Seems to have been pretty uneventful in the end. Another victory for skepticism!

It is now another hot, muggy Monday, and there are two unusual things about the day so far.

1: Souji Seta is absent today, which isn't especially common for him.

2: There are rumors that a detective was asking some questions around the school this morning, although they don't say what he was asking about.

Whatever the weird rumors say, though, life goes on. When Alice reaches the classroom after school lets out, it's with a sense of unease she can't quite place. She's probably not the first one in this time.]
independent_dollmaker: (Uhhh)
[Well, if they didn't want kids exploring the woods, maybe they should have said why!

Hiroshi, Alice, Nui, Osaka, Chiyoko, Maya, Minako and Maria advance through the darkness. It's not as creepy as Alice was expecting, honestly. She told her parents that she was visiting Maria, and wouldn't be back until late, and they seemed happy enough that she was spending time with friends to not ask too many questions. Her main contribution to the exploration party: A flashlight!

Alice looks up, quietly noting the moonless sky. Good luck, hearing about this whole thing the day before a new moon.]

So, I never did get a clear answer on whether or not there are bears in this area.
independent_dollmaker: (Ho hum)
[School's out! The weekend has come!

It's not uncommon for the Supernatural Investigation Club (or, if you don't want to say that many words, the Mystery Club) to hijack a classroom after everyone's gone home. It's an easy way for everyone to hang out without being bothered. On this particular hot, muggy Friday, Alice is the first one there, with a desk or two taken over by needlework equipment as she puts the finishing touches on a stuffed animal of some sort.]

...I wonder if I should have asked her what sort of animals she likes first...

[Of course, once everyone gets here, there will be IMPORTANT BUSINESS to discuss. The weekend is here! Nobody seems to have any important plans! This is the perfect time to find a new mystery to investigate!

...Anyone have any ideas?]
