The Princess will be free of her chains soon, Hope from Pandora's box bright and innocent and so easy to be crushed by the unscrupulous. Enemies lie everywhere - the sisters, no matter which side they take, they're out of the way for now. If there are still enemies to take care of, if she's still alive at the end of the night, she'll see if she needs to drag anything out from under their skins.
Four to go. Tomosuke's message had been clear. A turncoat twice over, no fit familiar for a witch. Even a treacherous witch.
With Maria's betrayal, there's really no time to waste. Can't check on the prince, if he's gone then that's just wasted time, if he's not then that's still wasted time, if he's taken a turn for the worse and died then too bad for him, Maya's reign'll just have to kick off with a tragic star-crossed romance, it's his fault for getting in the way.
Time, time - wires strung across doorways and stairwells, ancient crossbows dredged up from the basement, sharp stakes and slippery steps in strategic places, all the traps her wild ingenuity can summon into being, and, of course, a certain upgrade for the power of Venus, purchased with the help of papa's credit card.
Mia will be back to free Maya tomorrow, so it has to be tonight.
A challenge must be issued to the worst of the demons remaining. With the power of love and beauty, she'll defend this household, and with that, she dials Nui. With Alice's cell phone, of course. She might not pick up for Minako, but she definitely will for Alice. Power of love. It's what she's got and she'll use every single tool at her disposal for the sake of her liege.

The Samurai posters on the walls are covered in a collage of photographs and red string and notes in increasingly illegible handwriting. There's a set of Nui's clothes (last seen borrowed by Minako, the half-open closet's basically just a huge heap of mixed clothes), stuffed on that life-size doll someone'd won for Maya in a carnival fair. There's a set of crossbow bolts, many of which are lodged in the doll. Trap parts strewn all over the middle of the floor - wires, wire cutters, various tools and electronics, what looks like the start of a homemade explosive device and let's all be very thankful that Minako was never the best chemistry student and seems to have given up and stomped on it at some point.
And there's the window, curtains blowing in the breeze. There's blood on the sill. ]

The sight... was not pleasant. Her eyes widened, taking in the walls of photographs - of her, and her friends... and fell on the doll in the corner.
An icy chill hit her spine. She couldn't believe it.

Maya hears everything that Maria says. The princess and the prince, Space witch Venus, her crying. She hadn't even noticed that there were tears budding in her eyes until it was pointed out.
But the Minako is there, and she has a knife. She gets hold of Maria. No no no no. she can't do this. she can't let this happen.
But then Hiroshi is there. It's almost like he teleported, but he was between Maria and Minako. Maya saw red. A lot of it.

[ She sounds just as young as Maria, for a moment. Hiroshi's blood's still leaking out onto the front of her Venus robes. ]

She stands before her best friend. The scent of blood is strong in the air, and Maya's eyes were dead cold.]
